Unwind with P/Hop for MSF

P/hop will be joining Unwind as a charity fundraiser, so I asked Kate, P/Hop coordinator, to answer a few questions and share some of her crafting experiences with us...

Please introduce yourself and your charity project in 2-3 sentences.

Hi I’m Kate, aka Katestwirl on Ravelry, (and pretty much everywhere else), I knit constantly and I like social media, so running p/hop (pennies per hour of pleasure) for Médecines Sans Frontières / Doctors without Borders (MSF) is a great fit for me.

P/hop is a knitting & crochet community project which raises much needed funds by making knitting and crochet patterns freely available for a donation to MSF. MSF is an international humanitarian charity which provides medical aid where it is needed most. It is independent, neutral and impartial.

What treats can we look forward to seeing at your stand during Unwind?

We will be bringing a selection of our wonderful patterns for your knitting and crochet pleasure. Pick a pattern and make a donation based on how much pleasure you think you’ll get from the project – it’s as simple as that.

This year we are running a knit-a-long during the Commonwealth Games (23 July to 3 August) and will be hoping to get people to join us in making the P/Hop pattern, Dear Green Shawl which was designed to represent the city of Glasgow by Anna Fisk. The Dear Green Shawl pattern may be downloaded from our website here and see the knit-a-long details here.

After Unwind, how can people further support p/Hop?

There are several ways that people can support us, by hosing knitty get togethers or yarns swaps, donating a pattern design or simply re-tweeting and sharing on Facebook. Our website has all the details here.

P/Hop has a high event attendance, what are your favourite things about knit events?

Oooh tough one – I’m torn between the yarns and the fabulous people!

What are you looking forward to the most about Unwind?

I am devastated that I actually cannot attend this show myself.  I have to go to a Hen do in Bath, so will be relying on an army of wonderful volunteers to run the stall. I hope you all have great fun!

A big thank you to Kate for taking the time to share some insight into her knitting world. You can find P/Hop’s website by visiting www.p-hop.co.uk. To keep up to date with all of the latest P/Hop / MSF news, keep an eye on Twitter and Facebook and visit MSF’s website: www.msf.org.uk
